Oops hi 2026
completely forgot to post a newsletter for January, that's where we're at currently yikes
Holy guacamole, it’s already February 2026!
It just dawned on my that the last newsletter went out in December of last year, and I could’ve sworn I posted in January! The truth is, I did post, but they were just notes.
The notes are making me lazy and making Substack more like a social media platform (which I was trying to avoid when I signed up1).
So here ya go! A digest, if you will.
2025 Recap: fires, red rocks, friends, walks, art…
An article published on (*gasp*) another platform!
…which, I’m pleased to add, was very well received by the featured DJs (and even those who weren’t featured!): In Praise of Twitch DJs (on Medium)

Chapters added to my online children’s lit book
You can now view up to FIVE (of ten!) chapters of Pepper, Forever. Recent anecdotal reports say that real children actually listened to the story when it was read out loud! THAT is an endorsement, friends! You can read, leave comments, draw pictures, and leave a tip on the blog too:

I made some drawings and shared them in my latest illustrated journal newsletter
Which you can view here (along with a handmade card by an old friend).
There’s lots of other stuff going on, but I’ll tell more when there’s more to tell. I’m trying not to post too much (have you been reading about this “post zero” trend?), however, I’ll still make an effort to post regularly. You know, to keep in touch. :)
Why don’t YOU keep in touch and smash that blue button up there!
Bisous2,
Laura
If you really want to fan the flames of your burning disgust with social media, I HIGHLY recommend reading The Chaos Machine. Oh the TEA is spilled in this one, you have no idea. Well worth the six-week wait to get from the local library!
I’m in month 2 of an online conversational French class with a lovely group of folks and an awesome teacher whom I’ve known (virtually via Instagram) for years. Hit me up if you want more information and want to join a class (note: classes are held on Paris time, be warned!)
